Yogi of the Month

April 2025 Yogi of the Month

Krishna

Krishna has been practicing yoga for over 7 years, and may have had a secret past as a competetive mac and cheese eater. See their full interview below!

Q: How long have you practiced yoga and what other forms of exercise do you like to do?

A good friend of mine introduced me to yoga about 7-8 years ago. I found it helpful for my back and
joints, so I would go whenever my body seemed to need it. I’ve always been a physical person. My big
sport was ultimate frisbee, but my 56 year old knees said “no más” a long time ago. At some point I
began to do yoga to stay in shape. Now that my wife and kids do yoga, I’ve been getting to studio much
more often.

Q: What brought you to YogaSpark?

I love going to YogaSpark because the space, music, and lighting is great, the warmth gets me sweating
and my muscles loose, and the instructors are absolutely amazing. Their passion, energy, and
knowledge shine through and makes me surrender to the flow.

Q: What do you love about practicing hot power yoga?

I’m a Physical Therapist and have always had an appreciation of the body. I find amazing all the variety
of positions that the human body can take. Practicing yoga and seeing others do yoga I’ve learned
everyone’s body is different. There are poses I can do well and others not so much. I’ll see yogi’s do
amazing poses in class and sometimes I pause to admire. My body has been good to me and I’m so
thankful of that. Yoga gives me a chance to show my body that appreciation.

Q: Can you give a word or phrase that describes yoga to you?

Yoga calms my mind and relaxes my body.

Q: What's your current favorite song to flow to?

There are so many songs that motivate me to stretch deeper and hold positions a little longer that I’ll
have to offer up 3. My favorites are EDM songs with a strong beat.

1. Nous by Melosense
2. Humanize by Klahr
3. Better by Khalid

Q: What yoga pose do you love practicing right now?

My favorite pose has always been downward dog. My posture in downward dog is “mid”, but for me,
it’s just right. When we are there for a while I can more easily focus on breathing. I love making the
small and familiar adjustments with huge sensations. The stretch of my back and legs is restorative. My
head dangling in the gentle inversion rushes blood to my upper body and the burn in my arms and
shoulders keeps the sweat rolling.

Q: Tell us one non yoga factoid about you

When I was a child, with my many siblings cheering me on, I ate 22 servings of macaroni and cheese.
